Sunny Hedgecock joined the UUCR staff in December 2021, first as a Youth Coordinator and Religious Education assistant, and later as the Summer Worship Coordinator, before becoming the Congregational Administrator in September 2022.
Before joining UUCR, Sunny’s professional background was largely in the telecommunications sector, with focuses in project specialization and coordination, consulting, order management, provisioning, and purchasing,. Additionally, she has extensive volunteer experience in communications, membership tracking, directory creation, and scheduling. She studied at Frostburg State University for two years before transferring to the University of Maryland, graduating with a degree in Sociology.
Sunny, a native Washingtonian, lives around the corner from UUCR in Rockville’s West End with her husband John, having moved here in May 2004 from Cabin John, Maryland. Their two teenagers, Nick and Nate, grew up in the West End neighborhood and currently attend Richard Montgomery High School. The family also includes two well loved mixed breed pups, Leo and Luna.
