The mission of the Social Justice Committee is to lead, support, and engage the congregation on social justice concerns, providing tangible ways to live our Unitarian Universalist principles in the community and the world. The Social Justice Committee is composed of several active, topic-specific subcommittees that carry out the committee’s mission by: financially supporting social justice and human services organizations; working in coalition with other social justice groups; volunteering on projects in support of human services and social justice organizations; and encouraging congregational exploration and action on social justice issues.
The SJC meets monthly to coordinate the congregation’s social justice activities and to offer a welcoming environment in which all UUCR social justice leaders and participants can gather in community to explore ideas, share expertise, and plan, implement, and coordinate activities.
