New2UUCR is a class both for those of you who are new to our congregation and are interested in learning more about Unitarian Universalism broadly speaking and about its particular expression here, and also for those who have been around a little while and have decided to deepen your commitment to UUCR by joining as members.

Generally, it is our hope that New2UUCR will provide you with:

1. An opportunity to hear the stories of others in the congregation.

2. A broad introduction to Unitarian, Universalist, and Unitarian Universalist history, theology, and practice.

3. Information on how Unitarian Universalism is expressed specifically at UUCR.

4. The bonds of friendship, and companions for the journey…

During this class we will be covering:

10 a.m. Welcome and Introductions

10:15 a.m. UU & UUCR History

10:45 a.m. How & Why to Get Involved

11:00 a.m. Opportunities to Connect & Serve

11:30 a.m. Spiritual Journeys

12:15 p.m. How to Join Congregation

12:30 p.m. End (or earlier) 

After the class, you can let us know that you have decided to become a Member by either signing our Membership Book or notifying Chloe by email. Thirty days after becoming a Member, you become a Voting Member and are eligible to vote at congregational meetings.

With increasing options for digital accessibility (live-streaming Sunday Services and joining meetings/classes via Zoom), you do not have to live near UUCR geographically to become a Member. You only need to be committed to participating regularly (either online or in-person) and supporting the congregation. The same Membership process listed above is open to everyone, either online or in-person.

We will meet in person at UUCR in Building 4, Room 44. A Zoom link will be available to all registrants for those preferring to participate online.

Children & Youth:

Childcare for children ages 0-11 is available for those who request it by August 1st.

Youth ages 12-15 may participate in the class, as they wish, with a responsible registered adult, but are not eligible for membership.

Youth ages 16 and up who wish to participate may participate as adults and are eligible for membership at UUCR.
