Green Sanctuary Accomplishments

Leaf Image symbolizing Environment

In order to become a Green Sanctuary, we were required to perform 12 projects in four areas: worship and celebration, religious education, environmental justice, and sustainable living. Click on each heading below to learn more about our Accomplishments in each area and see photos from activities.

Worship and Celebration – Spiritual grounding for care for the environmental work is based in our Seventh Principle - Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

Our projects:

  • Environmentally Themed Worship Services
  • Celebration of Nature through Art

Religious Education – Programs and activities that help children and adults understand their place in nature and the interconnectedness of all life.

Our projects:

  • Environmental Films and Book Discussion
  • Adopt a Road – Youth Project
  • Family Environmental Field Trips

Environmental Justice – Activities concerned with the ecological health of human communities and nonhuman communities. Environmental justice has three goals:

Our projects:

  • Environmental Justice Awareness
  • Eco-Justice Partnership
