Rev. Lyn Cox

Sabbatical Pastoral Minister

Rev. Lyn Cox (they/them/theirs) is serving as the Sabbatical Pastoral Minister at UUCR from January 15 through July 15, 2023. In this capacity, Rev. Lyn supports the Pastoral Care Steering Committee and the Pastoral Care Team, supervises Ministerial Intern Brenna Clanton, and checks in with members in need of clergy-level acute pastoral care. In addition to being an Accredited Interim Minister, Rev. Lyn has advanced training in clinical pastoral counseling and is a member of the American Counseling Association. Congregations that Rev. Lyn has served as an Interim include the Washington Ethical Society, the UU Church of Silver Spring, the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg, and the UU Congregation of York, PA. Rev. Lyn's ministry also includes consulting for congregations and committees on topics such as pastoral care, leadership transition, and multigenerational community. Lyn is on the leadership team for the Transition Minister Chapter of the UUMA. Lyn is also a Board member for Starr King School for the Ministry, where they chair the Advancement Committee. Previously, Rev. Lyn served on the full-time staff of the Joseph Priestley District (2006-2008) and as the education minister for the UU Society of Sacramento, CA (2003-2006). Rev. Lyn is a 2014 Master of Science graduate in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University Maryland, a 2003 graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry, and a 1995 graduate from the College of Journalism of the University of Maryland at College Park.  Rev. Lyn lives in Baltimore with their two partners, two tween-age children, one aging parent, and two cats. Before entering the ministry, Rev. Lyn worked in public relations for a variety of nonprofit, educational, arts-based, and high technology organizations. Rev. Lyn enjoys gardening, walking, reading speculative fiction, and learning about dinosaurs.
