UUCR Year of Reflection - Third Day of Reflection
Courageous Love Leadership Summit – June 17
Practice Courageous Love is our new mission statement, affirmed at the annual meeting. Say it out loud, “Practice Courageous Love.” Wow! Feel the power and promise of these words.
Our new values are lifelong spiritual discovery, beloved community, and a just world.
Our task now is to make the new mission statement come alive and to live our values in setting directions, goals, and priorities for the next 5 years. To make this happen, the Future Planning Team is hosting a Courageous Leadership Summit to include staff on June 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at UUCR. Please RSVP by June 4 using this Doodle poll.
Childcare will be available if you request it by June 4 by emailing Rena Geibel with the names and ages of your children.A continental breakfast will be served.
Our work on June 17 will form the basis for the final stage of our future planning explored at our third congregation-wide Day of Reflection on July 30. We will share the output from the Summit during the service, and after the service, listen to responses and reactions and discern what resonates.
In preparation, we have crafted questions (see below) to explore with your committee or individually so that you can bring your or your committee’s thoughts, dreams, and plans of action into the Summit conversations. We'll spend that morning listening and sharing as we develop ideas to make courageous love felt in our lives, our community and the world.
The Future Planning Team will then draft recommendations for approval by the Board of Trustees that outline primary strategic directions and goals for the congregation over the next five years.
Future Planning Team members for the June 17 Courageous Love Leadership Summit and the Third Day of Reflection on July 30 are: Ellen Rohan, Christin Green, Lisa Reed, Bill Newhouse, Rev. Lynn Strauss, Terrie Barr, Jose Clemente, Colleen Dolak, and Steve Eckstrand. Please contact them at email@example.com if you would like to learn more or if you have a question about the new way to choose our future.
The questions below are provided to encourage you to consider, ahead of our Courageous Leadership Summit on June 17, 2017, how you and your committee or group can support the new mission and values. Don’t feel compelled to answer all of them. They are meant to start and focus your conversations.
