UUCR's Comprehensive Plan Committee developed new Vision and Mission statements that the congregation approved in May 2005. We are a Welcoming CongregationUnitarian Universalists believe that our first principle—respecting “the inherent worth and dignity of every person,” applies equally to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Recognizing that negative attitudes, deep prejudices, and profound ignorance about bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgender persons are more prevalent in our society and even in our congregations than we would like, UUA General Assembly voted overwhelmingly in 1989 to initiate the Welcoming Congregation program to aid congregations in creating a welcoming and caring community for all people.
