The Social Justice Committee works for economic justice, human rights, and environmental justice. Social justice activities provide tangible ways to live our Unitarian Universalist principles—to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person and promote justice, equity and compassion in human relations. UUCR supports the following activities that provide opportunities for direct service, education, advocacy, witness and community organizing.

The Social Justice Committee is the principal coordinating body for social justice activities at UUCR. We discern congregational priorities and provide leadership in implementing those priorities and encourage exploration of emerging issues. We work in coalition with UU and other social justice organizations to have a greater impact in making the world more peaceful and just. The Committee coordinates the work of groups and local and regional social justice organizations listed below. The Committee financially supports these organizations, sponsors activities, workshops, and forums on various social justice issues. The Committee meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm. All are welcome to attend. Contact: Antonio Carrillo (301-424-1795).

This page lists all sorts of ways that you can be involved in the social justice work of UUCR, from serving meals or donating toys and winter clothes, to participating in the annual Shelter Walk, attending Amnesty International meetings or AIM training, and more. We appreciate your participation in whatever way you are able.
