UUCR Environment Group > Home & Office Nov 17, 2007: Kill-a-Watt Devices Thanks to Alba Schofield for passing on the information that the Rockville Public Library has Kill-a-Watt devices you can check out and use to measure how much power is consumed by various devices in your home. They are rated at 15amps, so unfortunately you can't use them to measure the real energy suckers in your house like the dryer and A/C, but they're good for checking the appliances you use daily and making yourself aware of how much power you go through daily. November 11, 2007: Rain Gardens Building a rain garden in your yard is one way to manage rainwater runoff in your yard and allow water to soak into the ground slowly to be filtered and fill groundwater supplies. Thanks to the Carleton family, we have a video explaining the how and why of building a raingarden. Also in Environment: |
