Film and Discussion about Torture, Aug 26, 11:45–1:00 pm. Jean Athey, founding member of Washington Region Religious Campaign Against Torture and coordinator of PeaceAction Montgomery, will show the film Outlawed, about extraordinary rendition and torture, and lead a subsequent discussion. Please register by email to Gail Owens Save the Date On Wednesdays, Sept 5, Sept 12, and Sept 19 at 7:30pm, we'll kick off this year's Wonderful Wednesday program with a powerful three-part PBS video series, "Race: the Power of an Illusion," with a discussion led by Rev. Lynn Strauss and Deborah Kahn, Director of Religious Education. Water Ceremony, Sunday, Sept 9. On this day, we will celebrate our Water Ceremony. Please bring some water from your travels or from a sacred place in your life. We will pour our water together as we speak the name of the place where it was gathered. The ritual will be for all ages. It is a celebration of our return to religious community and an honoring of the earth's blessings. Josh Rushing, Sept 9, 2:00–4:00 p.m., will discuss the ideas and values that inspired his 2007 book, Mission Al Jazeera: Build a Bridge, Seek the Truth, Change the World.
