Sunday, August 26 at 10 a.m.: Does America Still Have Moral Authority? by Suzanne O'Hatnick, National Religious Campaign Against Torture
Suzanne O’Hatnick is also the Legislative Coordinator for Amnesty International USA. She encountered both tortured and torturer as a consultant on human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1996-2000) during the Balkan war. Nursery-5th grade in Bldg 3; 6th-8th grade in room 50. Summer youth group (7th-12th grades) meets 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Aug. 26.

Film and Discussion about Torture, Aug 26, 11:45–1:00 pm. Jean Athey, founding member of Washington Region Religious Campaign Against Torture and coordinator of PeaceAction Montgomery, will show the film Outlawed, about extraordinary rendition and torture, and lead a subsequent discussion. Save the Date On Wednesdays, Sept 5, Sept 12, and Sept 19 at 7:30pm, we'll kick off this year's Wonderful Wednesday program with a powerful three-part PBS video series, "Race: the Power of an Illusion," with a discussion led by Rev. Lynn Strauss and Deborah Kahn, Director of Religious Education.

Water Ceremony, Sunday, Sept 9. On this day, we will celebrate our Water Ceremony. Please bring some water from your travels or from a sacred place in your life. We will pour our water together as we speak the name of the place where it was gathered. The ritual will be for all ages. It is a celebration of our return to religious community and an honoring of the earth's blessings.

Josh Rushing, Sept 9, 2:00–4:00 p.m., will discuss the ideas and values that inspired his 2007 book, Mission Al Jazeera: Build a Bridge, Seek the Truth, Change the World.
