Part-Time Office Assistant
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockville (UUCR) seeks a part-time
office assistant to provide
support for the church’s administration and communications.
The position is 20 hours per week. UUCR offers competitive salary and benefits.
A member of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, UUCR has provided a liberal
religious home in Montgomery County, Maryland for over 50 years. We welcome all who share our

Primary responsibilities:
- Prepare published materials related to worship, including weekly and special orders of service,
signs and flyers.
- Desktop-publish church newsletter, Quest, and other flyers, brochures and booklets.
- Assist volunteer Webteam with launch and maintenance of new Joomla-based website.
- Assist volunteer Publicity Committee with new outreach and communications initiatives.
- Maintain integrity of church membership database, including entering and editing records,
archiving records, and producing reports.
- Produce annual church membership directory, annual report, and other major documents.
- Provide general reception, including answering telephones.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from church staff, members, and the general public.
- Provide general administrative support to church staff and volunteer lay leaders.
- Prepare the weekly church bank deposit.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years experience working in an office environment, preferably in a
non-profit setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven organizational skills with an emphasis on efficiency and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Flexibility, reliability, and experience working both independently and cooperatively in a
highly-complex environment.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office software: Word, Publisher and Outlook; good working
knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with databases and the ability to become highly proficient with church
database software (experience with CDM+ Pro preferred).
- Experience working with website content management systems (experience with Joomla
preferred).
- Experience with other forms of electronic communication, such as Constant Contact, preferred.
