Summary of November 2005 Meeting of Socrates Cafe Rockville

Considering that our meeting on November 26, 2005 was over the Thanksgiving weekend, we had a surprisingly strong attendance of a little more than 20 people. We split into three discussion groups, with each group taking a different question. The questions discussed were:

1) Why is it difficult to be satisfied with what we have?
2) Is it in our nature to be good?
3) What is our ethical obligation to animals?

Two questions that were proposed but not discussed will be carried forward to the next month's meeting to prime the list of questions. They were:

4) Can we separate the Judicial from the Political?
5) What does it mean to be a pacifist?

The remaining unselected questions proposed at the November meeting were:

6) Can we change the World through dialogue?
7) How can we best take advantage of a globalized economy ?
8) What are we thankful for?

These last questions will not automatically be carried forward to the questions list of the next meeting, but participants are free to propose any of them again if they wish.
